HARD ROCK LIVE CONTINUES TO BRING SOUTH FLORIDA THE BEST IN MUSIC ENTERTAINMENT WITH THIS HARD ROCK PERFORMANCE BY THE SCORPIONS
For fifty years, the Scorpions have been Continental Europe’s most successful rock band selling more than 100 million records and selling out arenas worldwide. It is easy to see, and hear, why this band has been so successful for so long. Last night, I had the pleasure to see this legendary rock band at Hard Rock live in Hollywood, FL. With a packed house in attendance.
Scorpions were to share the stage with Whitesnake as the bands special guest but, as it turns out, Whitesnake’s lead singer David Coverdale has been dealing with a persistent upper respiratory infection that is affecting his ability to perform. Only time will tell if Coverdale will perform again.
In place of Whitesnake’s absence is the all-girl group from Sweden, Thundermother. This foursome took the stage and warmed up the crowd in support of their newest release “Black and Gold”. Thundermother was received well by the audience and, judging by the their reaction, wanted the band’s set to last longer. Check this band out as they will rock your socks off.
At 9pm, the curtain drops and the Scorpions hit the stage running and break into “Gas in the Tank” to kick-off this night of visual and auditory satisfaction. The sound, lighting, and stage set-up were in full effect for this perfomance and put on a show that will stay with me for a long time to come. Aside from the amazing music the Scorpions put forth, the visual aspect displayed on this tour is a well choreographed balance between sight and sound that puts the audience in the middle of the action.
A large screen behind the band was filled with video and images that were choreographed with the music. Spewing fire, pole dancers, birds, and giant truck engines were just some of the visuals accompanying the bands musical hits. “make it Real”, “Peacemaker”, “Bad Boys Running Wild”, and “Send Me An Angel” were some of the other songs that followed. An emotional version of “Wind of Change” was dedicated to the people of Ukraine. Some of the lyrics were altered to pay tribute to the war-torn country. With the audience on their feet, they sang the chorus at the top of their lungs while images of birds flew free from a bricked structure adorned with barbed wire. Guitarist Mathias Jabs donned a blue and yellow guitar ( The colors of the Ukrainian National flag) for the performance of this song, and a giant blue and yellow peace symbol appeared on the large screen at the end of the song as well.
An amazing four-minute drum solo by Mikkey Dee had the crowd roaring and on their feet, while bassist Pawel Maciwoda gave a stunning bass solo performance before the band would encore with two of their most popular songs “No One Like You” and “Rock You Like A Hurricane”.
This performance by the Scorpions was one for the record books and certainly in my top five concerts of all-time. Do yourself a favor and get your ticket to see this legendary rock band that will leave you wanting more.
