This year is already turning out to be a banner year for the unstoppable Multi-Platinum, Grammy Nominated band Smash Mouth. In late 2014, Universal released Smash Mouth’s “ICON Series” CD. A lofty achievement for any band, it is a perfectly condensed representation of Smash Mouth’s best work to date.
And coming in early-summer, the highly-anticipated, definitive and authorized Biography of Smash Mouth. Published by the Anchor Group, this comprehensive account of Smash Mouth’s deep and fabled 20-year history will be available in bookstores everywhere and through e-books. And every word of it was written by co-founding and continued Smash Mouth bassist Paul DeLisle. This making DeLisle a twice-published author as he recently penned Smash Mouth “Recipes From The Road” cookbook / photo journal / story book. (also available everywhere books are sold).
But the real excitement for Smash Mouth fans worldwide is the imminent, 2015 release of the group’s long-awaited “LIVE” album. Capturing stellar performances, these explosive recordings were harvested from two late-2013 concerts in Rapid City SD and Manilla, the Philippines. “Anyone who’s never heard Smash Mouth play live is gonna be totally blown away” confirms lead singer Steve Harwell. “Cuz live, our band is a whole different animal”. The album is to be released on the Sony label as part of their “Alt Vault” series. Look for it late-summer.
A look back to Smash Mouth’s formative years shows us a band determined to make an impact from the get go. Formed in late 1994, the band immediately begins recording demos and showcasing in both San Jose and Hollywood CA. In June 1997, Smash Mouth is signed to Interscope Records when label brass catch wind of an unknown (and unsigned) band being ADDED to highly-influential L.A. radio station KROQ’s playlist after only one (!) spin of their song “Walkin’ on the Sun”. Smash Mouth’s major-label debut “Fush Yu Mang” goes more than DOUBLE PLATINUM and sets the table for what most consider their masterpiece, the brilliant follow-up album “Astrolounge”. No sophomore slump for these guys. Boasting three top-ten hits (“All-Star,” “Then the Morning Comes,” and “Can’t Get Enough Of You Baby,”) sales for “Astrolounge” are nearly double those for their debut, approaching QUADRUPLE PLATINUM status. Smash Mouth’s third eponymous Interscope release features the ecstatic first single “Pacific Coast Party” and the smash hit “I’m a Believer”. Around this time, Smash Mouth crosses over to the film world by providing the musical heart of the soundtrack for “Shrek” and even making a cameo appearance in the movie “Rat Race”. In recent years, Smash Mouth has focused on touring and entertaining troops in places like Japan, Guam, Guantanamo Bay, Afganistan, and Iraq.
Question: What’s so great about Smash Mouth in 2015 compared to past years?
Answer: The bands line-up.

Line-up solidified! Best ‘Mouth ever. What these two A-List, virtuoso players have brought to the team speaks for itself: just take a listen to the Live album…
